The Roman Catholic Community of Morristown, Hammond & Rossie
Due to the changing pastoral reality in the Diocese of Ogdensburg and looking to future planning involving fewer priests, serious discussion regarding a possible merger of St. Peter’s Parish in Hammond with St. Patrick’s Mission Church and the parish of St. John the Evangelist in Morristown began with the respective parish councils during the pastorate of Rev. Douglas Lucia (2006-2008). This merger was realized under Father Lucia’s successor, Rev. Kevin McEwan, on January 20, 2009 and the new parish of “The Roman Catholic Community of Morristown, Hammond & Rossie” was formed. Joined now are the rich history and traditions of three separate communities (as well as Brier Hill) into one parish community. Masses are offered in three separate worship sites (St. Peter’s, St. Patrick’s and St. John’s) with each site having its own unique expression of church. Still, though three, we remain members of the One Body of Christ forming One Parish as a part of the larger Church of Ogdensburg. Following is a timeline for the pastors of our current parish of “The Catholic Community of Morristown, Hammond & Rossie” along with some histories of the churches which now form our parish:
Clergy Time Line
